First MSJN Meeting for 2014

posted Feb 2, 2014, 11:54 AM by Sean Donovan

Happy New Year and very best wishes for a happy, healthy, holy and successful 2014. We would like to invite you to attend the first Macarthur Social Justice Network meeting for 2014 to be held on:

This Saturday, 8th February 2014 between 2:30pm and 4:30pm

at St Thomas More Parish Hall, 43 Acacia Avenue, Ruse.

All Welcome: Gold Coin donation

This meeting will allow us to plan our priorities, meeting arrangements and activities for 2014.

As highlighted in the Social Justice Handbook – Resource Guide, recently posted on our Macarthur Social Justice Network Website at: www.msjn.org our deliberations could follow the following themes:

·            What are you trying to do, in the long term and the short term? How have you been trying to do it?

·           What is the shared vision you have for the world and for the Church within which you operate?

·           What have you been trying to achieve within the parish, the Church and the wider community?

·           Have you achieved any of your objectives? If so, in what way? If not, why not?

·           What does each member of the group feel about the aims and methods of the group? And how they could be developed?

·           Have you remained sufficiently open to new members?

·           What does the parish think your group is about?

Regarding Social Values, the vision and goals of a society are expressed in its values; what it looks up to and sets store by. Some values clearly representing values of the Kingdom of God are:

·           Belief in the defence of the weak and the old

·           Service to the community

·           Solidarity with those who are treated unjustly

·            Belief in the dignity of human beings

During our discussions, we could consider the following questions:

1. What are your own values?

2. What do you believe is important?

3. Which are the five or six values are most frequently referred to by the

group?

We very much look forward to seeing you this Saturday afternoon, 8th February 2014 @ 2.30pm. You are also encouraged to email any further points you would like considered at this meeting.

Members are also urged to regularly visit the Macarthur Social Justice Network Website at: www.msjn.org as it is constantly updated with items of interest to our community.

Meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 2:30pm.

Best wishes,

Peter

Peter Costello PSM

Secretary, Macarthur Social Justice Network
