Dear friends of faithworks@newtown
Hope you can make it to these events. Really hope to see many of you at the Sesquicentenary events to celebrate the laying of the foundation stone of Newtown Catholic Church. The early bird dinner tickets must be purchased by Feb 28 to save $15 a ticket on our Gala dinner on April 13. See details below.
Thanks
Fr Peter
We open the year with an excellent speaker, Rev Graham Long from the Wayside chapel.
Graham worked as a social worker before training for ministry with the Uniting Church. Graham has worked in church ministry, prison chaplaincy and church welfare agency. Graham has degrees from Catholic Theological Union and from the Catholic Institute of Sydney.
Inclusive Ministry in the Inner City
The Wayside Chapel revived its mission in 2010 to create a community with no ‘us and them’. A new chapel opened in May 2012. Services include The Wayside Café, Aboriginal Project, Rooftop Garden and Community Development Project. These are established to meet the changing needs of the community. In 2014, Wayside celebrated its 50th anniversary, pausing with deep gratitude for the past before launching with hope into the future.
