SFFA along with several partners is planning a conference for October to look at the growing problem of food insecurity in Sydney and further afield.
Please mark the date in your diary now! Monday 13 October and Tuesday 14 October
This is at the start of Anti Poverty week, and just before International Food Day on 16 October
The title is ‘Putting food on the table: food security is everyone’s business’
The conference will aim to highlight the issue of food insecurity, and to start a broader conversation about solutions at policy, program and project levels.
The venue is Casula Powerhouse, near Liverpool.
We are hoping to bring together people working across the spectrum who are concerned about food security and determined to work together for change.
Groups that have become involved or pledged support to date include: Sydney Food Fairness Alliance, Macarthur Future Food Forum, Red Cross, Health Promotion Association (NSW Branch), Macarthur Diversity Services, Food Bank, Sector Connect (NGO peak body for Macarthur), NCOSS, Refugee Health Service, Western Sydney Community Forum, Office of Preventive Health, Health Promotion & Community Nutrition in SW Sydney Local Health District, Mamre and Liverpool and Blacktown Councils.
Further information about the program, speakers and a call for papers will be issued in the near future.
Please pass this date-saver email on to your networks.
If you would like to get involved with organising the conference, please ring 0410 145 473
Look forward to hearing from you
